ISLAMABAD: Zahid Bukhari representing business tycoon and Bahria Town chief Malik Riaz in Dr Arsalan Iftikhar graft case told on Saturday that the request for a larger bench to hear the case has been sent to the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC), Geo News reported.

The formation of a larger bench on the basis of seniority has been requested, Bukhari told.

Currently, a special two-member bench comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain is continuing proceedings of the case.

Dr Arsalan’s father and Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday removed himself from the bench.

It is pertinent to mention that the SC took suo moto notice after reports circulated in the electronic and social media about Arsalan Iftikhar allegedly receiving crores of rupees from the Bahria Town management under different pretexts in order to influence the SC in favour of Bahria Town cases pending with the apex court.

It was reported that Malik Riaz paid between Rs300-400 million to Dr Arsalan and also sponsored his foreign visits.

Where are those commentators who used to put up numerous comments here on alleged corruption of Zardari/Gilani and always demanded resignation from them. Now they seem to have disappeared from this newspaper. Come on guys and show the courage to demand resignation from CJ as well. Read the above column and demand resignation from CJ. How come a CJ without his house did not know at all about lavish life style of his son? Did he never see his son? Come on guys where r u gone?
