ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has disposed of a petition seeking to declare Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani ineligible terming it premature, Geo News reported.

Petitioner G A Chaudhry Advocate pleaded before the court that the prime minister stands disqualified after the conviction in a contempt of court case by the Supreme Court and be refrained from performing official duties.

Justice Shaukat Sissiqui heard the case. He remarked that Article 63 is about the disqualification of member parliament not of the prime minister and the detailed SC verdict is not available yet.

The court then directed the petitioner to withdraw the plea, which he did.

Where is the doubt? Supreme Court has convicted Ex PM who has been proved guilty and punished him. The sentence is already complete. By what standards he still claims to be fit for staying in the office of PM. A convicted person cannot be a peon how can he be a PM? Gillani Sahib please have mercy on yourself.

Why then did the Supreme Court refer article 63(1)g of the Constitution in its short order in declaring PM guilty. If the IHC thinks its premature why was PM punished for 30 sec till the rising of the court under article 204 and contempt ordinance. Why was PM given a 30 sec punishment or shown leniency.
