KARACHI: Rounding up the successes achieved in the crackdown against criminals in Karachi following the completion of its two years, the city’s police chief said on Saturday that crime had been reduced by 70 percent in the metropolis. Before the launch of the Karachi operation on September 5, 2013, the average number of murders in the city per day stood at 10 or 12, but now it has fallen to two or three, Additional IGP Karachi Mushtaq Ahmed Mehar added. The Karachi police chief, in his press briefing, was accompanied by DIG East Munir Shaikh, DIG administration Sultan Ali Khawaja, DIG South Jamil Ahmed, Rangers sector commander Colonel Amjad and representatives of the business community.
