Provincial govts must implement NAP: Nawaz

Says sacrifices of children, army won’t go in vain

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the provincial governments should ensure implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) on countering terrorism.
He added that the sacrifices rendered by children and the Army would not go in vain.In a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here, the premier said that the provincial government must take steps in coordination with the federal government to ensure rapid progress on implementation of the NAP.
The prime minister said incidents like Peshawar and Wagah were extremely tragic and would never fade away from the memory.He said the sacrifices of innocent children, civilians as well as the armed forces would come to fruition and the country would soon be steered out of the mess.He termed it heartening that the whole nation and the entire political spectrum of the country were now on the same page in the fight against terror.
The premier hailed the exemplary unity shown by all political parties and expressed the confidence that this trend would continue in future for effectively meeting the big challenges the nation faced. He said the extraordinary measures being adopted through the 21st Amendment Bill and by introducing amendments in the Army Act were meant to eradicate the menace of terrorism and extremism within a specified time frame. “It will also strengthen the rule of law and writ of the government in the country,” he added.The premier directed all security agencies to ensure seamless coordination with one another for achieving optimum results in the shortest possible time.
