NOWSHERA: The district administration on Thursday imposed Section-144 and banned for one month the sale and distribution of polythene bags in the district.
A notification issued from the office of the deputy commissioner stated that the sale and use of plastic bags was banned for month. It said that the use of the product was banned as plastic bags were dangerous to the environment, human health and biodiversity.
The notification said action against violators of the ban would be taken under Section-188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Several shops, plazas sealed: The Cantonment Board Nowshera authorities on Thursday sealed several shops and plazas of tax defaulters as the drive to recover taxes from shopkeepers and owners of commercial properties was expedited.
Executive Officer Irfan Ahmad said the officials of the Cantt Board launched a tax recovery drive on the GT Road, Aziz Bhatti Road, Cavalry Road, Mina Bazaar, RA Bazaar, Khushalpura and other areas against the defaulters.
He said the authorities recovered millions of rupees from the shopkeepers and owners of commercial plazas, houses and other structures. The officer said the authorities sealed several shops and plazas.
