LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to deploy a soldier inside the vehicle that will transport vote bags to the Returning officer after the by-elections in Lahore on October 11.

“There will be a soldier inside and outside each polling station but we also want one deployed in the vehicle that will transport vote bags to the concerned Returning Officer,” Imran Khan said while addressing a big public rally here.

He also told his youth workers to follow the vote carrying vehicle on five motor cycles in a bid to preempt any move to manipulate the upcoming by-elections results for NA-122 and NA-154 in Lahore.

“You have to defeat poll rigging on October 11,” Imran Khan told his party workers.

He said the way Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been ‘hiding behind stay orders’, the party’s name should be changed to ‘Stay Order League’

He said PML-N leader Saaq Rafique has been hiding behind a stay order for the past five months. “Similarly, when PML-N saw that its wicket is going to fall in Lodhran, they went and obtained a stay order there,” he added.

Imran Khan said there are 180 cases in National Accountability Bureau (NAB). “Twelve of them are faced by Nawaz Sharif and one each by Shahbaz Sharif, one by Ishaq Dar and Khursheed Shah.”

He said the NAB chief was appointed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah. “No wonder why NAB chief won’t take action against the two.”

The PTI chief said a real change can only be brought about in the country by a party that has the courage to present itself for accountability.

He said NAB functions independently in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where PTI has its government.

He regretted that while international oil prices have witnessed a 40 per cent decline, the electricity tariff in Pakistan was raised by almost 100 per cent to add to the miseries of the people, who are already suffering from nuisance of loadshedding.

Imran Khan said according to a report of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), consumers were charged 70 per cent more than their actual bills during the whole last year.
