Finance minister announces POL prices to remain unchanged for Oct

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Wednesday that the prices of all petroleum products would remain unchanged for the next month (October).

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad this evening, he said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had recommended a nominal decrease of 15 paisa in the price of petrol and an increase or decrease of Rs 2.51 to Rs 2.99 in prices of other products.

Dar said after consultations with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over telephone in New York, it has been decided to keep the prices of POL products unchanged.

The minister went on to say that the last date for filing of Income Tax Returns has been extended till October 31.

He added that the concessional rate of withholding tax on banking transactions for non-filers would also remain applicable for another month at the demand of traders.
