ISLAMABAD: Members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have decided not to step down as demanded by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the commission held in Islamabad on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner Retired Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza.

They pointed out that Lawyers Forum of PTI has already filed a reference in the Supreme Judicial Council, which is the proper and competent forum for deciding such matters.

Therefore, the concerned members would not take any decision about their resignations till the final decision of the Supreme Judicial Council.

The members also pointed out that they have been systematically ridiculed and stigmatised with false and baseless allegations of rigging about which they strongly feel to be adjudicated upon.
