NAB arrests former PPP Punjab president Qasim Zia

LAHORE: The former Punjab President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Qasim Zia was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials for committing stock market fraud worth over Rs100 million.

LAHORE: The former Punjab President of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Qasim Zia was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials for committing stock market fraud worth over Rs100 million.

Zia and his partner Usman Saeed were arrested by NAB in the early hours of Saturday. Zia and others are accused of selling fraudulent shares and committing stock market fraud through a company.

The wife of Qasim Zia is also among the four directors of the company.

NAB has been granted 14-day remand of the accused by the accountability court.
Before entering politics Qasim Zia played hockey for 7 years representing Pakistan and holds and Olympic Gold medal.

He has also served as the former chairman of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
