ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers have announced they will not attend proceedings of the National Assembly until there is a final decision on motions seeking to de-seat their parliamentarians.

Speaking to reports, PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said a final decision on the de-seating motions put forward by the JUI-F and MQM will be made today.

“All parties except the JUI-F and MQM want PTI to remain in Parliament. We understand the reservations of these parties (JUI-F, MQM),” he said.

Qureshi added that the reservations of the JUI-F and MQM were political and the de-seating motions would be opposed by the majority of parties in Parliament.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi emphasised that the stance of the PTI was that they are elected officials and played their role for over a year in Parliament. He further said the PTI had protested after the party’s reservations over the 2013 elections could not be resolved constitutionally.

According to Qureshi the PTI had accepted the decision of the judicial commission which was formed to probe rigging allegations in the 2013 elections and had returned to Parliament.

Speaking to Geo News earlier, PTI leader Shafqat Mehmood said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s problem was "not difficult to understand as he has been beaten badly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

Dispelling the notion that the PTI had sought some time, he said: "We are very much clear on our position. We will not go to Parliament until a decision is made."

He said that the MQM too was facing a threat from the PTI in Karachi.

The JUI-F and the MQM had submitted two similar motions seeking to disqualify the PTI legislators over their absence from Parliament for 40 consecutive days during their party's protest sit-in last year.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has sought a few days time from National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq to deliberate over the matter of the de-seating motions within his party.
