KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Friday came up with a strong reaction against a raid carried out by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at its Land Department last week.

The KMC has sent a notice to the FIA, asking the agency to return all the records seized in the raid.

It warned that KMC reserves the right to lodge a case against the FIA if the records are not returned within three days.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the FIA said the agency in fact does have the right to carry out investigation into funding of terrorists in Karachi.

“FIA is probing illegal business of lands and China-cutting and it was expecting KMC too would cooperate in the investigation,” he said.

The spokesman said the FIA seized the records, acting within the parameters of law.

Last Friday, the Pakistan Rangers Sindh and the FIA carried out a raid at the KMC Land and Revenue Department located at the Civic Centre.

Jahangir Baloch, Director Land of the KMC, was also present when the paramilitary force and the FIA carried out the search operation.

Land and Revenue Department is located on the third floor of the Civic Centre.
