KARACHI: Two kids on Monday sustained wounds as a result of clash between protesters and police in Landhi area of Karachi.

According to details, the residents of Landhi area surrounded the police station after the officers in civvies allegedly arrested a man identified as Arshad and shifted him to an undisclosed location.

The local residents came out onto the streets and staged a protest demonstration against police, blocking roads leading to the Landhi police station.

The police fired shells and bullets to disperse the enraged protesters and as a result two kids including a 3-year old girl, said to be the daughter of the arrested man. She sustained a bullet wound in her leg.

The family members of Arshad said officers in civvies stormed into their house earlier in the morning at 5AM and arrested him. On the other hand, police denied arresting the man and using shells to disperse protesters.

The area residents complained that several people have been arrested from the locality in the last three years and now they are even deprived of their right to protest.
