NEW DELHI: After banning the consumption beef locally, India has banned its cows from crossing the border into Bangladesh and has deployed the Indian Army to make sure no cows end up as steak.
The 30,000 strong military presence on the India-Bangladesh has been tasked with the responsibility to make sure no cows sneak past them.
Annually 20,000 heads of cattle find their way from India to Bangladesh, with annual sales crossing $600 million.
Under Narendra Modi, India now sees slaughtering or smuggling a cow to be equal to raping a woman or demolishing a mandir (temple).
