PM Nawaz announces funds for K4, Green Bus projects

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Wednesday and chaired a high-level meeting on the heatwave deaths and acute water shortage in the city.

KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Wednesday and chaired a high-level meeting on the heatwave deaths and acute water shortage in the city.

During the meeting Prime Minister Sharif said such deaths were unprecedented adding that all departments were answerable on this tragedy.

The prime minister also directed that a committee be formed to monitor all those projects which run with the cooperation of the federal government.

Prime Minister Sharif was given detailed briefings on the heatwave. He was informed that 65,000 people were treated at hospitals. The PM expressed sorrow over the loss of life.

The prime minister was also briefed on the water shortage faced by the metropolis, to which he reiterated that federal government is giving Rs. 10 billion for the K4 project to solve the water woes, but added that the project must be completed in the next 24 months.

Prime Minster Sharif also announced Rs 8 billion for the Green Bus project.
