KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan visited the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) on Thursday to inquire about the health of patients suffering from heatstroke in Karachi.

Holding the federal and Sindh governments responsible for the deaths, Khan said that authorities were not prepared even after a deadly heat-wave had claimed hundreds of lives in India.

“It is the Sindh government’s fault but note that, at the end of the day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is responsible for every governance issue in the country,” he said.

The PTI chief went on to say that the administrator of the Jinnah Hospital, Dr. Seemi Jamali, told him that the people of Karachi were coming forward but the government was nowhere to be seen.

“The royal Zardari family is in Dubai… not one of them is in Karachi,” said Imran.

“Zardari and Sharif have their assets abroad. I advise the people not to vote for those who have their assets abroad,” said the PTI chairman.

Khan further added that children were dying while the government was busy playing the blame game.

Targeting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), the PTI chief said that the metro bus project made in Ahmadabad cost just a third of the Islamabad-Rawalpindi metro bus project.

He also hit out at Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif, calling on him to “have some self-respect” and resign from his post. “Khawaja Asif, how could you say Karachi is not your mandate?” he asked.

The PTI chairman further said that the Sindh government has ruined the life of the people of Sindh, adding that if the governance system was better, then the government could respond quickly to any issue.
