ISLAMABAD: Following rigging allegations from all parties including provincial coalition partners Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Chairman of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Friday offered to hold re-elections for local bodies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“If all parties including JI are unanimous over poll rigging, then let’s sit together and decide about holding re-polls,” he said while speaking with reporters after attending a tree-planting ceremony.

Commenting over cases lodged against a PTI provincial minister, Khan said Ali Ameen Gandapur was not involved in poll rigging and was being politically victimised. He visited a polling station in Dera Ismail Khan to ‘prevent rigging’, he added.

Education, justice, security more important than Metro Bus

Speaking about Federal Budget 2015-16, the PTI chief said that the PML-N government should focus more on education, justice and security rather than what he termed futile projects like Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus service.

He said masses are deprived of clean drinking water in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. Launching Metro Bus project is not that big a deal as being propagated through advertisement campaign.

Khan claimed that the federal government has issued only 19 per cent of funds allocated for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Poor will not benefit from the federal budget, he added.

The PTI chairman vowed strict action against what he termed ‘stronger than govt and politicians timber mafia’ in KP.
