PM Nawaz, COAS visit ISI headquarters

RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited the headquarters of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) on Saturday.

A press release by the ISPR said DG ISI briefed the Prime Minister and COAS on internal and external security situation of the country and ongoing counter terrorism operations.

RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited the headquarters of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) on Saturday.

A press release by the ISPR said DG ISI briefed the Prime Minister and COAS on internal and external security situation of the country and ongoing counter terrorism operations.

Recent ongoing successful Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) and number of terrorists attempts averted in near past and terrorists networks busted across the country as a result thereof, were discussed.

Prime Minister Sharif praised the efforts and achievements of ISI in countering attempts of terrorists and paid tribute to the brave officers and men of the agency who had sacrificed their lives. “We are proud of our premier intelligence agency and they deserve due recognition and acknowledgement”.

Prime Minster Sharif further said that terrorism and extremism are the biggest challenges to a secure and prosperous Pakistan. He showed his concern over actions of foreign intelligence agencies, in destabilising our country. He reiterated the resolve that we will collectively defeat all designs of our enemies and make Pakistan a secure and affluent country no matter what the cost.

The prime minister emphasised the need for more proactive and coordinated role of all intelligence agencies to bring optimum effects to defeat all threats.

Prime Minister Sharif also expressed serious concerns about recent statements by Indian Political leadership. PM said in unequivocal terms that “we would take all possible measures to counter any anti-Pakistan acts”.

Federal Ministers Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Asif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan along with Special Advisors to PM on foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz and Tariq Fatmi accompanied the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
