KARACHI: The management of ARY news channel has tendered an apology to Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Aviation Capt Shujaat Azeem for false allegations leveled by its anchorperson Mubashir Lucman.

Azeem said that with the passage of time our news channels have started showing sense of maturity and ARY News channel’s apology was a testimony to the fact, according to a press release issued here on Thursday.

The management of ARY News channel, in its letter of apology to Shujaat Azeem, said that allegations of its anchorperson in the programme “Khara Sach” were not true and confirmed that the statements made by the host would never be repeated.

The special assistant on aviation has appreciated the response of ARY News as a positive approach. He had served a legal notice to the news channel last month.

The notice by Azeem’s counsel stated that “an anchor of ARY Mubashir Lucman had leveled false and baseless allegations against Shujaat Azeem in his program, accusing him of helping the assassins of former Lebanese prime minister.”

“He was also blamed for having a suspicious role in an accident which PM Nawaz Sharif had narrowly escaped,” the notice said.

In his program that was aired on February 19 on ARY News, Mubahsir Lucman had accused Shujaat Azeem of selling a Pakistan Airlines plane to his daughter's company at a throw away price, while he was also held responsible for giving a plane to Emirates Airlines as a gift–APP/Geo News
