KARACHI: Inspector-General Police Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali and 11 other senior officers of the Sindh police submitted unconditional apologies to the Sindh High Court on Thursday over the siege of the SHC and anti-terrorism courts.

The IGP had earlier offered an apology over an incident last week when masked policemen assaulted former Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza’s guards and journalists outside the SHC premises. But the earlier apology was rejected by the high court.

Now 12 senior police officers, including the IGP Sindh and Additional Inspector-General (AIG) Karachi, have submitted written apologies to the SHC over the violent incident that took place outside the court premises last week.

According to a lawyer representing the police officers, the IGP has submitted an unconditional apology and as well as further details sought by the court.

In his signed affidavit, Jamali pleaded to the court to accept his apology, ensuring that he is an obedient public servant who respects the judges and the courts.

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah ordered the Chief Secretary Sindh to meet Sindh chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and inform the court what action he has taken over the incident. The court adjourned further proceedings until June 1.
