LAHORE: A student of Punjab University’s College of Earth & Environmental Sciences was manhandled allegedly by some activists of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) at the university’s canteen on Friday.
A mobile video, in which, the student could be seen being manhandled by Jamiat activists on PU New Campus but still arguing with them, went viral by Friday evening. However, the security guards intervened and took the student with them to the university’s security office where he, it is learnt, demanded action against the activists of the student group for manhandling him. Sources said the student was sitting with his female class fellow at the canteen which caused the incident.
When contacted, a PU spokesperson confirmed the incident and said the university would take stern action against those involved in it. He said nobody would be allowed to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere on the campus.
