KARACHI: Terming the disgruntled party leader, Zulfiqar Mirza an ‘asteen ka saanp’, a term often used to describe a backstabber, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders on Monday warned him against his ongoing diatribe against former president and the party’s co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari.

Mirza had been disowned by the party for blaming Zardari of running the Sindh government as his ‘business empire’ during an explosive interview to Geo News in February.

“Asif Ali Zardari is running the provincial government like his personal business,” he had said in the “Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath” show. Mirza had also claimed during the interview that some 'cronies' of Zardari wanted to keep Bilawal away from politics.

Speaking at a press conference here today, local leaders of the PPP also threatened to surround Mirza’s residence if he fails to avoid hurling ‘baseless allegations’ at Zardari.

PPP’s Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Sindh, Imdad Patafi said that Mirza should also speak about his scandals from the past while hurling allegations at others.

Mumtaz Jakhrani said that Zulfiqar Mirza should clarify allegations of being a bank defaulter leveled by Mukesh Chawla. He was pointing finger at others to hide his own shortcomings, he added.

Tariq Masood, on the occasion, challenged Mirza to contest election from his constituency to know how popular he was.
