Dr Farooq, a prominent member of the MQM was murdered in 2010 outside his house in London as a result of multiple stabs and a blow to his head.

Besides Sunday's arrest of a key suspect in the case from Karachi, British police had made two arrests in connection with the killing but both suspects were later freed on bail. They believe that Dr Farooq was under surveillance in the days and weeks before his murder.
