Supreme Court receives notification for judicial commission

ISLAMABAD: The Law ministry on Tuesday sent to the Supreme Court a notification for the formation of the judicial commission to probe alleged electoral irregularities in the 2013 general elections.

The notification requests the apex court to form a three-judge commission, as agreed upon by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz led government last week.

ISLAMABAD: The Law ministry on Tuesday sent to the Supreme Court a notification for the formation of the judicial commission to probe alleged electoral irregularities in the 2013 general elections.

The notification requests the apex court to form a three-judge commission, as agreed upon by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz led government last week.

The government also promulgated a presidential ordinance, paving way for the formation of the commission.

According to sources, the letter sent by the Secretary Law Ministry has been received by the Supreme Court registrar and has been forwarded to the chief justice.

The letter requests the apex court to nominate three judges, including the head of the commission.

The commission will be tasked to submit its report within 45 days of its formation.
