LAHORE: Police in Lahore on Monday arrested 69 suspects for their alleged involvement in vandalism and an incident of mob violence that resulted in the lynching of two men in Youhanabad last month.

Hafiz Naeem and Babar Noman were picked up by an angry mob following suicide attacks on the Roman Catholic Church and Christ Church in Lahore last month. They were badly beaten and then burned to death in the broad daylight and in police presence.

Police say they have now arrested 69 suspects, 22 of whom are accused of involvement in the lynching of the two men.

Police say they arrested the men after identifying them through video and photos of the incident. The suspects will further be sent for identification parade in a Lahore jail, they said.
