Bilawal pays accolades to Bhutto on death anniversary

LONDON: Patron in Chief of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid accolades to his grandfather the founder of the PPP on his death anniversary.

He said, advances made during his grandfather’s government were repealed and Pakistan has suffered because of it.

He added that it was his grandfather that took the politics from the drawing rooms to the people of Pakistan. Bilawal said it his grandfather that lifted morals at home after the formation of Bangladesh.

Paying laurels to his grandfather Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Bilawal said he sacrificed his life to strengthen democracy.

Historian Ian Talbot also addressed the event and credited Bhutto for bringing transformation to Pakistan. He termed the loss of East-Pakistan (now Bangladesh) as the result of division in east and west adding that it gave way to the birth of PPP which was popular among the ordinary Pakistanis.

Talbot credited Bhutto for waking up the common Pakistani. He was a man of imagination, he added.

Also speaking on the occasion was seasoned British politician George Galloway. Addressing the ceremony Galloway termed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as the greatest leader the subcontinent ever produced, adding that his hanging was a loss for Pakistan.

Galloway further added that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto changed his life, making him a revolutionary, He said he was proud that he fought against Bhutto’s hanging.
