ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday affixed their signatures on an agreement over formation of the proposed Judicial Commission (JC) for launching a probe into the alleged rigging in the General Elections of 2013.

Addressing a press conference, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar flanked by PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jehangir Tarin, said efforts will be made to issue the presidential ordinance that would pave way for constitution of the JC.

Dar, who represented the government’s side, lauded the endeavours of the Jirga for evolving an understanding between the government and PTI.

He said all the parliamentary parties were taken into confidence in connection with issuance of the ordinance and the draft of the government-PTI agreement was also sent to these parties.

Qureshi said the findings of the commission’s investigation into the alleged rigging of 2013 polls would help introduce reforms in the electoral process. This would increase people’s trust in the elections, he added.

The agreement was signed, from the government’s side, by Dar, and by Tarin from PTI’s side.
