ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has, on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, put off for 30 more days the execution of Saulat Mirza, the death-row prisoner and ex member of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

The delay has been ordered for the third time following the video statement from Saulat Mirza that was aired hours before his hanging scheduled for March 19. Initially his execution was postponed for 72 hours.

According to sources, the Machh prison in Balochistan, where Mirza is presently detained, has received the fresh orders to delay the execution for 30 more days.

Meanwhile, the Machh prison has received another order which directs the authorities to go ahead and execute five other death row inmates.

It is pertinent to mention here that Saulat Mirza in his video statement had alleged that he had received the orders from MQM Chief Altaf Hussain to kill the Managing Director of KESC, Shahid Hamid.

He had also leveled allegations of serious nature against other leaders of MQM.
