KARACHI: Barriers and blockades in the metropolis’ posh areas remain undisturbed while the crackdown continues elsewhere in the city.

Residents citing the police report submitted on the Karachi operation before the prime minister have asked, who will be responsible for loss of property and life after the barriers are removed.

Residents complained that the police report also states that crime continues even though there is an operation taking place against criminals in the city.

Following the expiration of a three-day deadline by the Rangers, the paramilitary force has started removing barriers. However barriers in PECHS, KDA, Mohammed Ali Society, Tariq road, Bahadurabad and Gulshan-e-Iqbal have not been removed.

Residents maintain that the barriers were installed in light of rising street crime in the area, a menace that still remains.

The appealed to the law enforcing agencies that before such orders are passed, the resident’s valid grievances and concerns must be addressed.
