Great results achieved from operations in Karachi and N. Waziristan: PM

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that great results had been achieved in the ongoing operations in Karachi and North Waziristan.

The prime minister is on a one-day visit to Peshawar and held a meeting with provincial leaders of his PML-N party. Mr. Sharif said the network of terrorists had been destroyed and the world had acknowledged that Pakistan was sincere in efforts to eradicate terrorism.

The prime minister spoke of improving relations with Afghanistan, adding that both countries had agreed that their soil would not be used by terrorists.

Prime Minister Sharif added the country’s economy was improving and measures taken were being praised by international economic institutions. He emphasised that the government was taking steps to overcome the electricity and gas crises plaguing the country.

On local government elections, Prime Minister Sharif said teams would be formed on the district level.

The prime minister is being accompanied by federal ministers Khawaja Saad Rafique, Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Asif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
