ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the government has not handed over any document related to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain to British government.

Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, Nisar rejected MQM allegations about handing over documents to UK and said: “The government has apprised Britain only about the FIR against Altaf Hussain.”

He said MQM is a political party and it should stay alive, adding that MQM had demanded for handing over Karachi to military.

“All parties including MQM gave mandate to launch Karachi operation which is being carried out by police and Rangers,” he said and added that Chief Minister Sindh is leading this operation.

Commenting on the delay in execution of death row prisoners Shafqat Hussain and Saulat Mirza, Nisar said the interior ministry had made a request to defer hanging of Mirza for 72 hours after his video statement while they had requested to postpone execution of Shafqat till the matter of his age is resolved.

“An FIA team is formed to ascertain age of Shafqat Hussain, while investigation is launched over the statement of Saulat Mirza,” said the minister.

Nisar asserted that justice will be delivered to both Shafqat Hussain and the parents of slain children. He also dismissed the impression that Hussain was provided any legal assistance through public prosecutor.

“Now the Presidential House will decide the time for hanging of Saulat Mirza,” said Nisar.

Nisar stated that death of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah has not yet been confirmed.
