KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain has said that those who did an illegal act of releasing Saulat Mirza’s video from death cell actually tried to tarnish his party’s image.

“Whether they belong to civil establishment or military establishment they did an illegal act to defame MQM,” he said while addressing party workers by telephone on Saturday.

He said it was a unique example in which Saulat Mirza was allowed to read a written script against the MQM and later the video was released to TV channels.

He said his party didn’t believe in militancy and violence and that there was no room for criminal elements in the MQM.

“Our houses are being raided and our innocent people are being arrested but we still stand by the Pak army for the sake of the country,” said Altaf Hussain.
