DUBAI: Citing lack of documentation, a court in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the case pertaining to extradition of wanted suspect Uzair Baloch to Pakistan till next week, sources said.

The Pakistani officials have failed to present solid evidence against Uzair Baloch as yet delaying the matter further.

Sources told Geo News that Judge Raees Lanjana of a special court was hearing the case here.

The court said that the documents submitted by Pakistani authorities were incomplete, lacking attestation of Pakistan’s Foreign Office and any rulings by Pakistani courts on Baloch’s previous convictions.

The sources also said that the Pakistani authorities in UAE have sought more documents from the interior ministry to expedite the process.

They said that the hearing was adjourned till next week.

Pakistani officials were optimistic that they would get custody of Baloch after today's hearing.

Following the hearing, Baloch was taken back to prison under high security.

Uzair Baloch was presented before the court under security of UAE Special Forces. The defendant has secured the one of UAE’s top lawyers to argue his case and has reportedly paid AED 500,000 in fees.
