ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the revised schedule of Local Government elections for Sindh and Punjab which were presented today.

Meanwhile, the court approved the revised schedule for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Cantonment Board areas with minor amendments.

The court said that a fresh schedule for Sindh and Punjab should be presented in court by 4:30pm today.

Furthermore, the new date for conducting LG polls in Cantonment Board areas was decided by SC as 24 April 2015, while the new date for KP is 30 may 2015.

Earlier today, the court altogether rejected the revised schedule of LG polls for Cantonment Board areas as well as provinces, presented today.

According to a revised schedule presented by the Attorney General (AG) in court today, LG polls for the Cantonment Board areas were proposed to be conducted on 25 April 2015.

The schedule went on to say that the first phase for polls in Sindh and Punjab would be on 3 December this year.

A three member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja while hearing the case, expressed reservations and said that they do not want an Attorney General in court that has no knowledge of anything.

Justice Khawaja remarked that the polls will have to be held on the dates which the court provides.

He also questioned what the meaning of conducting the provincial LG polls in three phases meant.
