LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan said on Tuesday that the matter of Chief Selector Moin Khan visiting the casino is now closed as an apology has been issued after clarification.

The chairman said the subject has been investigated and no further disciplinary action would be taken against Moin.

Moin clarified his visit to the chairman in a meeting today and said he had gone to the casino in the New Zealand city of Christchurch for dinner with friends and family and not for the purpose of gambling. But he apologised after his actions offended many.

"He has admitted his fault. It was inappropriate for him to have dinner at the casino," Shaharyar Khan said. "The matter is now closed."

The chairman went on to say that Moin would continue his role as chief selector and not go back to Australia.

He further said that the board found no violation of code of conduct and that in fact most restaurants in Australia and New Zealand have casinos located within them.

Moin Khan, a former wicketkeeper and captain, had visited the casino on February 20, a day before the team´s Pool B game against the West Indies which they went on to lose by 150 runs.

Responding to a question regarding future Pakistan-India series, the chairman said that a request has been sent to the Pakistan Foreign Office so that Indian Foreign Secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar may be spoken to about this matter.

Jaishanka arrived today in Islamabad on a two-day visit to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.
