KARACHI: After resigning from National Assembly as a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA, Nabeel Gabol on Tuesday night said that a probe should be launched to unveil culprits behind Baldia factory blaze.

Speaking in Geo News program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath’, he said that allegations on the MQM should be thoroughly investigated. He said the Army chief and the prime minister have taken serious notice of the incident.

Over 250 labourers were killed in one of the worst fire incident the country’s history in 2013.

Gabol said that justice must be provided to the families of Baldia Town factory victims.

‘I want to be on big screen’

Commenting on his ‘split’ with the MQM, he said that he still enjoys good relations with party chief Altaf Hussain. “Altaf bhai telephones me after every 10 to 15 days,” he said, adding that the party has not served any show-cause notice to him as yet.

Expressing his desire to be a part of a bigger national party, Gabol said that he would join a political force which could help make Pakistan a sovereign state.

“I want to be on a bigger screen now,” he told Khanzada.

The outspoken leader said that he will not leave Karachi come what may. “Nobody should think that I will leave Karachi… I stand by my previous statements and you’ll find me a man of my words,” he said.

Gabol said that he would hold his first public rally in Lyari, the Karachi constituency he won the 2013 election from.

Speaking about current political situation in the country, he said leaders from various parties were quite only due to upcoming Senate polls.

“After Senate elections, many will chant slogan about making a new Pakistan again,” he added.

Announcing his decision of resigning from the NA, Gabol had earlier said that he would hold a press conference on Wednesday to clarify things further.
