Army chief in UAE, discuses defence cooperation, regional security

ABU DHABI: Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, during his day long visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday, discussed bilateral defence and security cooperation besides collaboration and regional security with the top defence leadership.

According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) held separate meetings with Chief of Staff UAE Armed Forces General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumeithy and others senior military officials to discuss matters of mutual interest and bilateral defence ties of the two countries.

The UAE leadership appreciated Pakistan’s achievements in fight against terrorism specially Operation Zarb-e-Azb and showed keen interest to enhance training exchanges with Pakistan Army, said the statement.

General Raheel Sharif also visited International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

He visited stalls of various countries including China, Russia, UAE and Pakistan at the exhibition.
