KARACHI: Demanding stern action against banned terrorist outfits, leaders of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and other religious parties on Sunday announced protests till the deliverance of justice to the victims of Shikarpur massacre.

Speaking at a joint press conference, MWM leader Ali Hussain said that a protest demonstration would be held outside the CM House and would be extended till the fulfillment of all demands in this regard.

At least 61 people were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself inside an imambargah in Shikarpur during Friday prayers earlier this month.

Hussain demanded Zarb-e-Azb style operation against militants across the country. He said that protesters would stage a march from Shikarpur to Karachi and urged the authorities not to create hurdles to stop the march.

Leaders of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) said the government was busy in cementing their rule when the shikarpur tragedy was unfolding.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) leaders also demanded a military offensive to eradicate the country of terrorism and extremism.

Other leaders, on the occasion, said there was no political motive behind the protest march and their demand was only a stern action against terrorists of banned sectarian outfits across the country.
