IHC reserves judgement on Qadri's appeal against death sentence

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday reserved its judgement on Mumtaz Qadri’s appeal against his death sentence in the Salman Taseer murder case.

Qadri murdered Taseer on January 4, 2011 in Islamabad’s Kohsar Market. On October 1, 2011 he was sentenced to death by an anti terrorist court (ATC) after proven guilty.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday reserved its judgement on Mumtaz Qadri’s appeal against his death sentence in the Salman Taseer murder case.

Qadri murdered Taseer on January 4, 2011 in Islamabad’s Kohsar Market. On October 1, 2011 he was sentenced to death by an anti terrorist court (ATC) after proven guilty.

The appeal was heard by IHC’s Justice Noor ul Haq Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.

On January 27, the IHC had issued a one week deadline as prosecutors asked for more time during the hearing of Qadri’s appeal.

Prosecutors had asked for two weeks for preparations, however, the court issued a one week deadline.
