War against terror to be won at all costs: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while attending the passing out parade at the Elite Police Training School in Lahore on Saturday said that that it is necessary for Pakistan to win the war against terror at all costs for its survival and that there will be no rest till the last terrorist is eliminated.

LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while attending the passing out parade at the Elite Police Training School in Lahore on Saturday said that that it is necessary for Pakistan to win the war against terror at all costs for its survival and that there will be no rest till the last terrorist is eliminated.

The PM on the occasion said that with immediate effect, the capacity of the police force should be increased as well as equipped with the latest weaponry.

He went on to say that every citizen in Pakistan wants to be alongside the armed forces in the war against terror.

“I am grateful to the Army Chief General Raheel Sharif who played an extraordinary role in the training of police officers,” said the PM. He said that the General and him will visit Quetta as well as Karachi very soon to meet the political and military leadership and overcome all challenges in the present set of circumstances.

He further said that the whole nation was struck with grief over the Shikarpur tragedy.

The PM went on to say that under the National Action Plan (NAP) efforts were being made to eradicate terrorism from its roots and that these efforts were unanimously undertaken by the whole country and its institutions.

Speaking about operation Zarb-e-Azab, he said that actions were being taken with full determination against terrorists and that the whole nation had faith in its armed forces to defeat terrorism in the country.

While congratulating the passing out of the first batch of the Elite Police Force, the PM said that the training was undertaken by the Pakistan Army, the police as well as relevant agencies and that no terrorist should escape from the hands of the forces.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Acting Governor Punjab Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Commander Lahore Corp Lt. General Naveed Zaman and diplomats of different countries also attended the ceremony.

The first batch of the Elite Police Force comprising a total of 421 corporals including 16 females successfully passed out on Saturday after completing their nine month long training course. Around 1182 corporals are being trained by the master trainers of the Special Services Group of Pakistan Army and Turkish Police Force.
