KARACHI: Ruling out reports of differences with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Qamar Mansoor and Haider Abbas Rizvi on Friday said that doors of negotiations are never shut in politics.

Speaking to media representatives after attending a high-level meeting on Karachi security, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, they appreciated the PM for taking notice of alleged extra-judicial killing of MQM activists.

Mansoor, on the occasion, said that the party has demanded of the prime minster to form a judicial commission to probe the incidents.

“The prime minster has directed Chief Minister [Qaim Ali Shah] to constitute the commission after due consultations,” he added.

He said that MQM’s doors for negotiation are open for everyone. However, the MQM leader added that the chief minister’s tone and actions were not appropriate in the Sindh Assembly.

“There is no rift between PPP and MQM… situation gets tensed due to unnecessary smear hurled at each other,” said Qamar Mansoor, adding that political forces should be tolerant and should not shut doors for talks.

It may be mentioned that the MQM had blamed the PPP government for 'extra-judicial killing' of its workers in Karachi in the guise of ongoing operation to eradicate the city of criminals and terrorists.

The city witnessed a virtual shutdown on Thursday after a strike call by the MQM in Sindh against the killing of Society unit incharge Suhail Ahmed. Businesses and schools remained closed in several cities of the province including Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur.

Ahmed’s body was found from Mauripur's Mochko Goth on the outskirt of Karachi on Wednesday.
