LAHORE: Stepping down from his governorship, Chaudhry Sarwar pointed out that it is Pakistan's bad luck that honesty is scarce in the country.

A former UK MP who relinquished his British nationality to serve Pakistan stepped down as Governor of the country's largest province on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference after tenders his resignation, Sarwar said, the decision to resign was his own and he had no contact with the President House nor the Prime Minister House in his regard, adding that if he a proven wrong he is ready to face any punishment.

Sarwar further added, that he came to Pakistan to serve the people and the country. Unfortunately he was unable to execute the plans he had to serve the people as a Governor and had therefore decide a few months ago that he would step down.

He denied rumours that his resignation had been sought and stressed that he decision was his own. Sarwar also apologised to the Overseas-Pakistanis in his press conference.
