ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly’s standing committee on Defense Production has summoned the Inspector General Sindh Police and the provincial home secretary in connection with a possible armoured vehicle procurement scandal.

According to sources, the standing committee took notice of a possible scandal regarding procurement and import of armoured vehicles for law enforcers in Sindh.

The committee’s chairman MNA Sohail Manzoor expressed concern regarding importing sub-standard armoured vehicles when the Wah Ordinance Factory was producing high-standard armored vehicles locally.

Manzoor added that the decision to import when a high quality local option is available raises questions regarding ulterior motives behind the decision to import.

The committee has summoned the Chief Secretary Sindh, the Sindh Home Secretary and IG Sindh to understand the reality of the situation.
