Balochistan LB polls: PkMAP's Dr Kaleemullah elected Mayor

QUETTA: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) senior leader and former provincial minister Dr Kaleemullah has been elected Mayor as the final phase of local body elections for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice Chairman took place in the province on Wednesday.

QUETTA: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) senior leader and former provincial minister Dr Kaleemullah has been elected Mayor as the final phase of local body elections for Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chairman and Vice Chairman took place in the province on Wednesday.

Following the oath taking of newly elected councilors, the polling process took place for Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, along with polling for Chairman and Vice Chairman for the District and Union Council.

Over 10,600 councilors took part in this process, while 139 presiding officers were deployed for the purpose of a smooth voting process.

Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) senior leader and former provincial minister Dr Kaleemullah and All Parties Democratic Alliance (APDA) candidate Qazi Abdul Qahir Achakzai contested for Mayorship.

Watan Dost Panel’s Younus Baloch and APDA’s Raza Wakeel are contesting for the position of Deputy Mayor.

For the Chairmanship, the two candidates contesting are PkMap’s Malik Yasin Khan and APDA’s Malik Naeem Bazai.
