Terrorists want to forcefully impose their agenda on people: Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said on Tuesday that Pakistan was fighting a war against terrorists who want to forcefully impose their agenda on people.

Addressing an international conference on security of journalists, Rashid said Pakistan had become a dangerous country for journalists. The information minister added the government would ensure that murderers of journalists would be sentenced by anti-terrorism courts.

The minister said his government was committed to providing security to journalists and media houses, adding that a committee had been formed for this purpose which would hold its first meeting today (Tuesday).

Pervaiz Rashid further said the government had announced financial assistance of one million rupees for martyred journalists.
