ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia.

In a message, the President paid rich tributes to the late King and said that the custodian of the Holy Mosques was held in high esteem by every Pakistani and was considered a good friend of Pakistan.

The Prime Minister while condoling said that King Abdullah had a special place in the heart of every Pakistani.

The PM extended condolences to the Saudi royal family as well as to the people of the Kingdom and said the whole nation was with their Saudi brethren in this hour of grief.

The PM had visited the ailing King last week to inquire about his health.

PM Nawaz along with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh today to attend the funeral prayer of King Abdullah.

The PM also announced a day of mourning in Pakistan on the sad demise. The national flag will remain at half mast.
