LAHORE
On the instructions of the party leadership, PPP Lahore leader Barrister Ami Hassan on Wednesday celebrated the 28th birthday of the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, at Dar-ul-Shafqat, the largest orphanage of the country.
The cake-cutting ceremony was attended by PPP senior leaders, including Samina Khalid Ghurki, Abdul Qadir Shaheed, Shaukat Mehmood Basra and a large number of orphan children living at ‘Dar-ul-Shafqat.’ Barrister Amir Hassan, a PPP ticket holder for NA-122, distributed gifts among the children.
Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Amir said that the PPP represented the downtrodden segments of society and would continue the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto under the leadership of the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Meanwhile, Faisal Mir, senior PPP leader from Lahore, also organised a birthday ceremony for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at SOS Village, Lahore.
According to a press release, gifts and sweets were distributed among the children at SOS Village. Orphans picked the gifts of their own choices. Most of the girls picked dolls and bears whereas boys went for toy cars and helicopters. Sweets were also distributed among the children.
Children sang "Happy Birthday Bilawal" with great enthusiasm and thanked the PPP chairman for indirectly sharing his birthday celebrations with them. Teachers and children present on the occasion prayed for the long life of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. PPP leaders Aqib Sarwar, Shahzad Shafi and Ali Awan also accompanied Faisal Mir at the event. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had instructed his party leaders and workers that no traditional cake-cutting ceremonies should be held.
