ISLAMABAD: Following his meeting with the former Afghan President Hamid Karzai in London, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed his secretary and special assistant on foreign affairs to deescalate tension at the Pak-Afghan border through dialogue.
Secretary to the Prime Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad and PM's Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi along with Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, who arrived in London Saturday evening, held a detailed meeting with the premier.
Karzai, who called on the PM a day before to inquire after his health, also discussed tension on the border. The three-member team was specially summoned to London to deliberate on many issues.
Fawad and Fatemi briefed Nawaz on the latest situation at the border and the steps being taken to ease tension. However, the sitting agreed to solve the issue through effective diplomacy.
Fatemi apprised the prime minister of his meeting with the Afghan ambassador in Pakistan. Nawaz directed that no compromise should be made on the country's security and emphasized efforts to resolve issues with the neighboring country amicably.
Pervaiz Rashid briefed the PM about the meetings of government with the opposition parties on the ToRs and his meeting the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah.
