IGP KP likens terror fight to cricket match

- August 05, 2013 - Updated 1412 PKT - From Web Edition

PESHAWAR: The Inspector General Police (IGP) Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP), Ihsan Ghani has compared the fight against terrorism to a cricket match in which ‘we sometimes hit a six, sometimes lose a wicket’.

“Our fight against terrorists is like a cricket match. Sometimes we hit a six, sometimes lose a wicket. This is a test match not a T20 and will continue,” the IGP said while speaking to reporters here on Monday.

Ghani added that threats were being received and precautions had been taken to avoid a jailbreak similar to the one happened in Dera Ismail Khan.

Following the jailbreak in which over 240 prisoners escaped, several police officials including the SP elite forces and DSP elite force were suspended.

Its a perfectly fair comparison so that cricket crazy nation can understand the dynamics of this problem. We are in for a long haul and that we will win sometimes and loose the other times.

My question: why IGP of KPK Ihsan Ghani was not fired for making stupid insensitive remarks comparing murderous terrorism to a fun game cricket -- IGP Ihhsan should be kicked out alonwith the Khatak ministry.

Poice, elite police are being fed by citizens and with government taxes collected from citizens. Basic need is to fight your enemy in your own territory. Ignoring the duty for life is not pardonable for law enforcement who take a oath that they are committed for the welfare and security of the people they serve. Here, these guys showed their courage and valour by simply jumping into sewer lines to avoid risk of getting killed?

So SAD, such an irresponsible and SHARAM-NAAK attitude being exhibited by a supposedly high-ranking official of KPK govt (run by SHARAM-NAAK PTI). For God's sake, here we are losing real human beings, our fellow citizens, and this guy is SHAMEFULLY trivializing the loss of human lives thru his non-serious, flippant remarks. This reconfirms that there is no will on the part of KPK govt/police to fight terrorists.

No body seems concerned and have sence of duty. This person should be punished sverely for making such comments. Where is IK, he must look how the KPK affairs are administered by the CM. He made big claims and performance is hopeless.

What a dumb comment. How many sixes do you see hit in test matches? T20 is where most of the sixes are hit.

What a comparison ? Why don't you say that the police force is incompetent to handle the situation.
