MIRAMSHA/PESHAWAR: Five people were killed and four others sustained serious injuries in a drone attack in Keekakhel village of Mir Ali town in the volatile North Waziristan tribal region on Friday night.

It was first attack by the CIA-operated spy planes in Waziristan after the latest strong-worded statement by Admiral Mike Mullen, accusing Pakistan of harbouring militants and refusing to take on Taliban in North Waziristan. Situation in NWA has become tense after his accusations and the tribespeople were worried for the coming days.

Tribal sources said the United States had increased spy planes as they saw 10 drones flying over various villages in Miramshah and Mir Ali, the two major towns of NWA on Friday.
