PESHAWAR: Like other parts of the country, the lawyer community in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also observed complete strike and boycotted courts to condemn the killing of former Punjab Bar Council (PBC) member Nasrullah Warraich and junior lawyer of Peshawar High Court Farhan Javed.

On the call of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had asked all the lawyers associations in the province to observe complete boycott of courts. Talking to The News, PHCBA General Secretary Aminur Rehman Yousafzai expressed serious concern over the law and order situation in the country.

He said that lawyers and doctors were being killed and kidnapped but no steps were being taken to protect them. “There is no security and protection to common man. People are being killed and kidnapped without any check,” he added.

He said that the lawyer community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa condemned the brutal killing of Nasrullah Warraich, who was shot dead by some unknown people outside his house in Gulshan-e-Ravi area in Lahore. He said Farhan Javed, a junior PHC lawyer, was shot dead by unknown person on Saturday in Peshawar. The lawyers have demanded the government to immediately arrest the accused involved in the murder of Warraich and Farhan and bring them to justice.
